How it works
Start a group
Tell us what you’re planning. We suggest a setup, and you change whatever doesn’t fit.
Send the link
To your WhatsApp group, by email or however works best for you.
Everyone signs up
You see who has answered and who still needs a reminder.
Common questions
Do I need to sign up?
No. Your name is enough to join a group. Only the chat asks you to confirm your email address once, with a code we send you. You don’t need a password.
How do I invite the others?
Either send a link that works for 7 days, or enter their email addresses. If the link has expired, just make a new one. Anyone who has already joined stays in.
Why does the chat need my email address?
A link can be passed on. With an email address, the group knows who’s in the chat, and whoever manages the group can remove someone again. Only they see your address, the others don’t. You won’t see messages from before you joined.
Who can see our group?
Everyone who has joined, and anyone who joins with the link. If that’s too open for you, invite people by email or let new people in only after you approve them. Whoever manages the group can also remove people.
What if I don’t have an account and switch browsers?
Without an account, your groups are tied to this browser. If you clear its data or get a new phone, you can’t get back to them. With an account you keep access, and your groups come with you when you sign in.
Where is our data stored, and what do you need from me?
The database is in Frankfurt, Germany, and we send emails through a service in Ireland. We never need a phone number. For an account, your email address is enough. If you set a password, we only store it encrypted. The privacy policy has the details.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Groupilla runs in the browser, on your phone just as well as on your computer.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Groupilla is free and has no ads.
Can someone else help run the group?
Yes. You can make other people in the group admins too.
